Ted Cruz Teaches Us How To Deal With The Media

By Joe Cunningham at Red State

The media has been running with unconfirmed and unsubstantiated reports that the Colorado Springs shooter mumbled something about “baby parts.” There are no official reports from law enforcement on this. In fact, according to former RedState Managing Editor Aaron Gardner, who has been covering this story from Colorado in a more unbiased fashioned than any of the “professional journalists” covering it (you can see his coverage on his Twitter page), law enforcement is keeping virtually everything under wraps at this time.

The Planned Parenthood and its benefactors in the Democratic Party, as well as the various left-of-center talking heads and screaming eggs on Twitter have since taken the narrative and run with it. A reporter asked Sen. Ted Cruz about it, and his response is summed up here:

– Reporter: Its been reported the suspect mentioned baby parts. – @TedCruz: It’s also been reported he’s a “transgendered leftist activist.”

— Patrick Svitek (@PatrickSvitek) November 29, 2015

Cruz is referring to reports that sprang up over the weekend that the shooter was registered in Colorado as a woman. There is no reason to believe he was a transgendered Leftist activist. Just like there is no reason to believe he mumbled anything about baby parts. Both claims are unsubstantiated.

But the media is running with the baby parts claim. Why? We know that answer: It fits the narrative. A shooting at or near a Planned Parenthood clinic, in the same year that we have many undercover, unedited videos with PP officials talking about the sale of dead baby parts? Surely that’s going to inspire some violence. Nevermind that the media is really adamant that violent rhetoric from the #BlackLivesMatter movement is in no way responsible from the uptick in the shooting of officers.

You can’t have it both ways, but the Left is trying its hardest to make it so.

The word “terrorism” is important, activists told BuzzFeed News. They’re trying to make the case that anti-abortion rhetoric ties directly to abortion clinic vandalism and finally, to the Colorado shootings. “Terrorism” signals that the ideology behind the shooting was extreme in nature, activists said, and suggests a network of anti-abortion groups and advocates are helping to fuel violence.

The branding of this shooting, facts aside, is what the abortion industry is aiming for. It may well turn out that this was the work of a crazy man (a “lone wolf,” if you will), but the media doesn’t care for that.

Sen. Ted Cruz using the line of counter-attack he’s using against these reporters is exactly how you need to handle a situation like this. More candidates need to keep on this if they get harassed about it, because these reporters are using speculation to drive a narrative. Until the investigation is concluded, and until officials have released the information in the case, all reports are unsubstantiated. The narratives mean nothing.
