“The hotly contested debate splitting the nation about whether an audio clip is saying “Yanny” or “Laurel” all reportedly started with a Georgia high school student just trying to study.
Flowery Branch High School freshman Katie Hetzel was prepping for her world literature course on Friday when she needed to learn the definition of “laurel,” she told tech magazine, Wired. She searched for the word on Vocabulary.com, but when she played the pronunciation recording, she thought she was actually hearing “yanny,” she said.
Dictionary.com hired opera singers to pronounce 200,000 words because of the singers’ perfect elocution. It appears that whether you hear “Laurel” or “Yanny” when the recording is played depends on the pitches your own hearing is most sensitive to as well as the type and quality of the device playing the sound.

The White House Staff weighs in on the “Laurel” vs. “Yanny” debate.
“I hear covfefe,” Trump said in a video posted to Twitter Thursday night, seemingly poking fun of himself after he tweeted “covfefe” one year ago.
The video, which also features Vice President Pence, Ivanka Trump, Sarah Sanders and Kellyanne Conway getting it on the debate, was posted by the White House days after an audio clip asked listeners to choose if they heard “Yanny” or “Laurel.”
It’s time now for
“I don’t get it. Liberals worry all the time about “invasive species” that disrupt our natural ecosystems, but somehow get all warm and fuzzy about “The Animals” who disrupt our social ecosystems. If Trump had only said something about the “British invasion” instead of the MSNBC gang, he’d have been fine. It’s just such a Burdon keeping up with the latest porous border in liberal outrage. Calling Pink Floyd: we need The Wall around liberalism. Wait till the media find out people in California order their In-and-Out cheeseburgers “animal style.” Thank God today is World Whisky Day. I know how I’m going to celebrate.”
And now, in closing:
McVAIN and the terrorists. Just because he’s dying of brain cancer doesn’t give him a pass on the things he has done to harm the U.S.
